There are certain provisions you\u2019ll want to ensure are in your contract to make it enforceable in Court.\u00a0 For example, your <a href=\"http:\/\/eralawgroup.com\/familyfriday-eras-fixed-fee-family-services\/\">contract<\/a> should permit several legal remedies upon breach by the customer, a provision for attorney fees in the event of breach, interest for late or non-payment, etc.\u00a0 Second, ensure that you have the necessary and required licenses.\u00a0 For example, contractors cannot enforce contracts against homeowners if they are not properly licensed with the Maryland Home Improvement Commission.\u00a0 Third, do not begin any work until you have a signed contract.\u00a0 If you have any amendments or change orders, get them signed.\u00a0 With email, text messaging, scanning, etc., there\u2019s no reason not to have a fully executed agreement within minutes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you have a contract and your customer hasn\u2019t paid there are many legal remedies available.\u00a0 For example, if the customer has made any payment by check, you can garnish their bank account.\u00a0 You can sue for breach of contract and in some cases even get your <a href=\"http:\/\/eralawgroup.com\/familyfriday-eras-fixed-fee-family-services\/\">attorney fees<\/a>. \u00a0If a check bounced, you can collect a fee and sue for additional fees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Don\u2019t forget, a Maryland corporation must be represented by an <a href=\"http:\/\/eralawgroup.com\/tuesdaytips-how-to-find-your-attorney\/\">attorney<\/a> in both District and Circuit Court!
